Gang violence, kidnapping and intimidation have forced about 96,000 people to flee their homes in Haiti’s capital as the country faces a crisis that has prompted the government to request the immediate deployment of foreign troops.

The U.S. is trying to rally an international response as gangs battle for control of the country.
