Today, Tuesday, marks the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, with rallies and solidarity demos expected to
take place across the world.

This year’s event comes seven months after Aljazeera veteran journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by an Israeli sniper whilst on assignment in Jenin, in the Occupied West Bank (MAY 11).

On November 15, reports said that the U.S. Department of Justice informed its counterpart in Israel that the FBI is opening an investigation into Shireen’s killing.

Israel eventually admitted in September that one of its soldiers likely killed Shireen, but said that no criminal investigation would be conducted, further the international outcry over her murder.
