The UNHCR says it’s expecting more mass displacement in Niger following attacks this past weekend in the country’s west.
More than 100 people were killed SAT when gunmen attacked two villages in Tillaberi, a region bordering Mali.
Tillaberi’s suffered a spate of attacks in the past three years, blamed on armed groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIL.
The UN estimates the violence has already displaced more than a quarter of a million people, many of whom have fled to camps near Niger’s capital Niamey.
Niger is also housing around 230,000 refugees, mostly Nigerians seeking to escape violence blamed on Boko Haram.
