The Shakahola Forest in Malindi is a crime scene after a massacre of cult followers linked to Pastor Paul Mackenzie.

According to Kenya’s government, 238 people have died, 90 have been rescued alive, and at least 613 are still missing

The exhumation process will continue on Wednesday.

Mackenzie, the head of the Good News International Church, surrendered to police in March and was charged after two kids died of starvation while in their parents’ care.

While starvation appears to be the main cause of death, some of the victims — including children — were strangled, beaten, or suffocated, according to the chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor.
