A doctors’ strike in Kenya is expected after the expiry of a 21-day strike notice issued by the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union.
They accuse the government of not properly protecting them from COVID-19.
The union wants the government to provide standard and adequate protective gear to all healthcare workers.
The protest comes amid a spike in COVID-19 cases.
Medical personnel who will strike are said to include: medical officers, pharmacists, dentists, medical specialists (consultants), medical interns, pharmacist interns, dental interns as well as medical superintendents, county directors of health, doctor administrators, and sub-county medical officers.
