The Global Sumud Flotilla is moving into the final stretch of its voyage. Yasemin Acar, a German activist serving on the flotilla’s steering committee, said on Monday that the group’s vessels are now advancing toward contested waters.

Organisers believe the convoy is nearing the same area where Israeli forces intercepted the Madleen, a ship that took part in a previous attempt to challenge the Gaza blockade.

With the journey entering its critical phase, attention is turning to whether the current mission will meet the same fate at sea.
