UN   releases a report entitled, 2022 State Of Food Security and Nutrition In The World Report.

The 2022 Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC 2022) highlights the remarkably high severity and numbers of people in Crisis.

According to the World Bank “record, high food prices have triggered a global crisis that will drive millions more into extreme poverty, magnifying hunger and malnutrition, while threatening to erase hard-won gains in development.” https://www.worldbank.org/en/topic/agriculture/brief/food-security-update#:~:text=Globally%2C%20hunger%20levels%20remain%20alarmingly,previous%20high%20reached%20in%202020.

This is an annual report on the state of worldwide food insecurity, that includes the latest data on consumption, the impact of climate change and war on dire food crises, as well as recommended policies for countries struggling with these crises.

Rising temperatures are causing food crises to worsen globally as prices of wheat, among other crops, increase exponentially.

Regions like the Horn of Africa, among others, are experiencing severe drought, raising concerns about rising levels of food scarcity.

Crops, due to heat, have not reached full harvest, making produce less affordable and impacting farmers’ livelihoods all around the globe.

“The number identified in the 2022 edition is the highest in the report’s six-year existence. The report is produced by the Global Network against Food Crises (which includes WFP), an international alliance working to address the root causes of extreme hunger.” https://www.wfp.org/publications/global-report-food-crises-2022#:~:text=The%202022%20Global%20Report%20on,economic%20shocks%2C%20and%20weather%20extremes.
