Tunisians are expected to hold celebrations Thursday on the 10th anniversary of the ouster of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

This came after a month of protests against his rule that also triggered uprisings across the rest of the Arab world.

Ben Ali was forced to flee to Saudi Arabia along with his family.

Tunisian courts sentenced him in absentia to life in prison on charges of theft, inciting violence, and murder.

Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali died in exile in Saudi Arabia in 2019 at the age of 83.
