Khartoum residents have described fierce battles with fighters roving the streets and little sign of Sudan’s warring sides
are respecting an agreement to protect civilians with ceasefire talks ongoing in Saudi Arabia, as of Sunday.

Sudan’s sovereign council head General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan issued a decree on Friday sacking RSF leader General
Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, from his position as deputy of the council with immediate effect.

Burhan also appointed former rebel leader Malik Agar as a deputy on the council.

More than one M people have been displaced by fighting so far, a U.N. Refugee Agency spokesperson said on Friday.

It includes more than 840,000 people displaced internally and around 250,000 people have fled across Sudan’s
borders, the UNHCR’s Matthew Saltmarsh told a Geneva briefing.
