The UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Joyce Msuya, and the USAID Deputy Assistant to the Administrator of the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), Matthew Nims, visit a camp for internally displaced people near Goma.
Kanyaruchinya camp is the main IDP camp hosting most of the people displaced by the M23 advance and their fighting with the Congolese army.
On Sunday protesters in Goma called for East African forces to leave and for the government to take back territory lost to M23 forces.
According to UN-OCHA and other humanitarian actors, estimate that more than 521,000 IDPs had been displaced since March 2022.
