Farmers in the western part of Uttar Pradesh state are gathering for a protest in Muzaffarnagar today Saturday.
Elections are scheduled in Uttar Pradesh later this year and the farmers say they want to teach the Bharatiya Janata Party a lesson.
In August, protesting farmers camped out near India’s parliament in New Delhi for nearly three weeks demanding the government repeal three controversial laws passed last September.
The farmers’ protest has been going on for more than eight months.
