On Monday, Israel sent delegates to Qatar to engage in discussions regarding the ongoing Gaza ceasefire. Israel is advocating for an extension to phase one of the agreement, seeking additional time to secure its objectives. In contrast, Hamas is pushing for the talks to progress towards phase two of the deal, which was the original plan. The outcome of these talks will be critical in shaping the future of the ceasefire and any potential resolution to the conflict.

Additionally, U.S. media sources indicate that Steve Witkoff, the special envoy to the Middle East, is expected to travel to Doha later this week. His visit underscores the United States’ continued involvement in facilitating dialogue and attempting to mediate a lasting peace agreement.

Egypt is closely monitoring the ongoing talks concerning the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal. Given Egypt’s historical role in mediating ceasefires and brokering peace agreements in the region, the country is playing a key role in ensuring that both parties adhere to their commitments and in facilitating communication as the situation develops.
