Nine months ago, support for a Constitutional Convention (note: similar to a committee) to rewrite Chile’s Pinochet-era constitution was overwhelming.

But with less than three months to go to finish it, support for the Convention has dropped steadily – by 10% in just the last week alone.

A campaign of misinformation is said to be to blame.

Delegates are spending much of their energy attempting – without success – to deny unfounded reports in the mainstream media and social media.

On Wednesday, the Convention debated the norms presented by the Commission for Political System, considered one of the most important parts of the process.
