Families of the 346 people killed in to 737 Max crashes that killed 346 people in 2019 and 2019 must file a response by Wednesday to the tentative plea deal that the Department of Justice and Boeing have agreed upon.
The families have been outspoken in their displeasure at the plea deal and are expected to request that the presiding judge rejects the deal.
In the deal, Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to a criminal fraud conspiracy charge acknowledging that it broke a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) by lying about software that caused the 737 Max crashes.
The deal proposes that Boeing pays a $246 million fine and invests over $450 million in bolstering safety procedures in its manufacturing process.
