Hamas has tentatively accepted a ceasefire proposal that envisages a 60-day military pause in Gaza.
The plan, brokered by Qatar and Egypt with American backing, includes a prisoner swap exchanging Palestinian detainees for half of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
The pause would allow Israel to reposition troops and enable vital humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Though fragile, this indirect negotiation signals a cautious opening toward ending a brutal conflict that has shaken the region.
