As the conflict in Sudan intensifies, children are suffering the most. Millions have been forced to flee their homes, creating the world’s largest child displacement crisis. Since April 2023, over 4.6 million children have been displaced, both within Sudan and across its borders.

The majority of refugees are arriving in Ethiopia, primarily from Sudan’s southern Blue Nile province. However, with the conflict spreading, families are also fleeing from the capital, Khartoum, and the conflict-ravaged Darfur region.

Ethiopia, already grappling with its own humanitarian challenges—including widespread food insecurity and ongoing conflict in Tigray, Amhara, and Oromia—has become a critical haven for Sudanese refugees.

Yet, insecurity in these regions continues to disrupt aid delivery, further complicating the crisis for millions of vulnerable families and children.
