Lack of funding has forced the United Nations (UN) food agency to cut food aid for Rohingya refugees living in overcrowded camps in Bangladesh, for the second time in three months.

Aid groups said the cut in March had reduced the full ration aid of $12 per person per month to $10.

This had caused hardship among the Rohingyas as most don’t have any other income source and many suffer from malnutrition.

The UN says from June 1st the rations for Rohingya refugees would be further reduced to $8 per person per month and it would need $56 million in funding to restore the full ration.

With international aid for Rohingya refugees dwindling over the years, the Bangladesh government which hosts more than a million Rohingyas says the international community is failing to help resolve the crisis.
