U.S. media outlets are reporting that Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, is scheduled to meet with Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East. Israeli media sources confirm that Witkoff arrived in Qatar late on Tuesday to engage in discussions with key diplomatic figures.

According to Axios, Witkoff’s visit comes as part of ongoing negotiations involving Qatari and Egyptian mediators who are working to broker a new agreement between Israel and Hamas. The primary focus of these talks is to secure a deal concerning captives held in Gaza, as well as a potential ceasefire to alleviate the ongoing conflict in the region.

Sources familiar with the situation suggest that Witkoff may extend his stay in Qatar for several days, provided the negotiations show signs of progress. This extended involvement could signal a shift towards more intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a breakthrough in the tense situation.
