At least three people were killed and more than 100 injured after Iranian missiles struck central Israel early on Sunday. Overnight, five were killed near Haifa in northern Israel, with at least 28 others wounded.

In retaliation, Israel targeted a refinery in Tehran, while its strikes also hit the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas. Anti-aircraft defences intercepted projectiles in the air as Israel launched a second day of attacks across Iran. Air defences were activated once again in Tehran and Isfahan on Saturday evening.

An Israeli drone strike hit a natural gas refinery at Kangan Port, which services the South Pars Gas Field—the world’s largest shared gas field between Iran and Qatar. The refinery is vital to Iran’s gas production and export capabilities.

For the second consecutive day, Israel continued targeting military sites, nuclear facilities, and civilian infrastructure. Since the initial wave of Iranian retaliatory strikes on Friday, three people have died and over 200 have been injured.

Across Iran, at least 110 have been killed and around 800 injured in attacks on Iranian facilities, including 80 in Tehran and 30 in East Azerbaijan Province. Among the dead are 30 members of the military and one member of the Iranian Red Crescent. Three more nuclear scientists have been confirmed killed, bringing the total casualties in that group to nine.

Babak Mahmoudi Khaledi, spokesman for Iran’s Red Crescent Society, reported that 18 provinces have been affected by the Israeli strikes.

Ben Gurion Airport has been closed and Israeli airspace restricted, with airline fleets diverted to other countries in preparation for further strikes.

Iran confirmed that its Fordow nuclear facility sustained limited damage, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, warned Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, that continued missile attacks would lead to “Tehran burning.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that it was still unclear what decisions would be made regarding the next round of talks with the United States, scheduled for Sunday.

The UN Secretary-General has called for both Israel and Iran to halt their escalating conflict.
