The U.S. led Sudan peace talks concluded on Friday in Geneva after 10 days of negotiations.
Despite the Sudanese army not participating, an agreement was reached towards greater humanitarian access through two routes to provide aid for millions of people who have been deprived of food, medicine and other essentials for months. Food aid is
on the way says the statement.
Tom Perriello the U.S. special envoy for Sudan says no formal date has been set for the next round of peace talks and despite failing to end the 16-month long conflict, an agreement has been secured from the RSF for a code of conduct that will be issued to their soldiers.
The Sudanese government, aligned to the military, refused to participate. Its rival, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, was represented, alongside officials from joint hosts the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, Egypt, the U.N. and the African Union.
