With the release of a right’s lawyer Hejaaz Hizbullah after 21 months in prison, Sri Lanka’s terror laws have come under
international attention.
Hizbullah was accused of aiding the 2019 Easter bombings but was finally charged with inciting communal hatred.
Rights activists say his case is an example of the abuse of the law and the United Nations and the European Union have called for the law to be repealed.
Sri Lankan government has recently amended the law but observers say they are token changes and real issues have not been addressed.
