Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur-Sudan

The hybrid African Union-United Nations peacekeeping mission in Darfur is set to stop its operations by 22G, today Thursday (Midnight in Sudan).
The mission has been in Darfur since 2007 to try to end the conflict in the region after 300,000 people were killed and more than 2 million displaced.
The mission had 15,000 troops when it started and, with gradual withdrawal since 2017, now has about 4,000 troops.
It will be replaced by a new political mission in 2021.
Guterres in Iraq
The UN believes it can play a role to settle those disputes through its mission in Iraq UNAMI.

Demonstrators killed in Sudan
At least seven of the nine killed were shot in the chest or the head, according to the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors.
