Delhi government is scheduled to inaugurate the city’s first smog tower at the central part of Delhi at Connaught Place to tackle air pollution.
Six of the world’s ten most polluted cities are in India.
And earlier this year the air quality index in New Delhi showed 20 times higher than what’s considered safe by the World Health Organisation.
According to the government of Delhi, this smog tower is a pilot project and if this succeeds then other towers would be built across the city.
The tower is around 25 meters tall and claims to purify at 1000 cubic meters per second.
It would benefit an area of 1 square km and get rid of PM 10 and PM 2.5 particles.
