NGOs that support cancer patients are holding a protest in Beirut on Thursday demanding immediate action as patients in Lebanon struggle to find medications in pharmacies and hospitals as the economic crisis deepens.

Tens of thousands of patients are unable to continue chemotherapy due to a lack of medication, according to the local cancer patient support association.

Surgeries are also becoming harder to access as hospitals struggle with power cuts and fuel supplies and doctors leave abroad.

Lebanon’s health sector is one of the casualties of the country’s economic collapse.

Hospitals need diesel due to a lack of state-supplied electricity, staff are leaving due to low pay, and medicines for cancer patients and dialysis can’t be found.

The lives of tens of thousands are at risk.

Some have taken to the streets to appeal for help.
