More anti-government protests are threatened in Kenya.
Activists who had vowed protests every Tuesday and Thursday look to have relented but have set August 8th as the date for another day of nationwide demonstrations.
President William Ruto has promised various concessions to placate the protesters.
They include appointing four allies of his arch-rival Raila Odinga to cabinet secretary – or ministerial – positions.
Protesters insist their movement has nothing to do with Odinga or traditional party politics.
The new cabinet secretaries are to be questioned in parliament, from August 3rd-8th.
