Dozens of villagers in northern Nigeria have been killed in a botched air force strike.

They were reportedly holding a Muslim celebration on Sunday in Kaduna when they were attacked by a drone.

Community leaders say at least 50 people were killed, and many others wounded.

Government officials confirmed the incident on Monday, branding it unfortunate.

The military has stepped up drone operations around Kaduna in recent weeks.
