Medical sources say 13 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since dawn. Two Palestinians were killed after an Israeli air strike on a house in the town of Khuza’a, east of the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. At least 16 Palestinians were injured Monday on Israeli strikes on tents in al-Mawasi.
Nine Palestinians were released into Gaza on Monday. The men, all in their thirties and forties, were handed over to the ICRC in eastern Deir al Balah. They’d been released from Sde Teiman Prison. The men were detained six months ago during an Israeli ground operation in the Jabalia refugee camp. The Israeli military is reported to have warned the men against speaking to the media, threatening that the next group of detainees scheduled for release would face severe torture in retaliation.
Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza continues, with at least 38 people killed in attacks SUN, including six brothers who were volunteers providing food to starving Palestinians. Israeli forces also targeted a UNRWA-run flour distribution centre in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has been able to verify that its missing medic, Assad al-Nsasrah, is alive and being detained by Israel. An eyewitness saw al-Nsasrah being stripped by Israeli soldiers and taken blindfolded on the same night Israeli soldiers gunned down 15 paramedics and emergency workers in Rafah who were responding to a distress call from civilians under attack.
The father of six last spoke to his family on the evening he disappeared, telling them he was on his way to the PRCS headquarters to break his Ramadan fast with his colleagues, according to his son Mohamed. When the family tried to call him at about dawn the next day, he didn’t respond, and they found out from headquarters that nobody could reach him or the other emergency workers. The other survivor, Munther Abed, said at the time that he had seen Al-Nsasrah being captured, bound and taken away.
Israeli forces have attacked the Al Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, putting it out of service. Two air strikes destroyed the hospital’s emergency unit, the main entrance and a facility holding medical oxygen, for intensive care patients. Patients and staff were ordered to evacuate the facility minutes before the strikes. The Gaza Media Office says that 36 hospitals including the Al Ahli Baptist Hospital have been targeted by the Israeli armed forces since 2023. The WHO says a Palestinian child died due to disruption of medical care after Israeli forces bombed the al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City as global condemnation grows over the assault.
The Israeli military said on Saturday it completed the construction of what it calls the Morag Corridor, which isolates the city of Rafah from the rest of Gaza. At least 500 children have been killed since the war resumed on March 18, says the Gaza Civil Defence.
