The Central Jakarta District Court is due to issue a verdict over citizen lawsuits related to air pollution in the capital.

The lawsuits, filed in July 2019 by a group calling itself the Jakarta Advocacy Team, blame seven top government officials for the city’s air pollution, including President Joko Widodo and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

“We are suing the government so they will investigate where the pollution comes from and take actions based on their findings,” climate campaigner Bondan Andriyanu told journalists. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-indonesia-pollution-idUSKCN1TZ0WY

The verdict has been postponed several times due to COVID restrictions.
