Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza: Oxfam Accuses Israel of Blocking Life-Saving Aid to Thousands in North Gaza

Published on: 27 November, 2024

Oxfam has issued a serious warning in its latest press release, claiming that Israel is in the “final stages of ethnic cleansing” in the northern Gaza governorate. The organization states that for over fifty days, Israel has blocked Oxfam, its partners, and other humanitarian groups from delivering essential aid to the thousands of people trapped in the region, many of whom are facing extreme deprivation.

The situation in northern Gaza has rapidly worsened, with residents suffering from severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. Oxfam’s statement highlights the disastrous impact of these aid blockages, which it says are preventing humanitarian agencies from providing the critical assistance needed to save lives. Without this help, many civilians are being left without the most basic necessities.

Oxfam expressed deep concern over the growing humanitarian disaster, pointing out that the continuing blockade and military operations are worsening the plight of civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, who are now at severe risk. The organization has emphasized the need for urgent and unhindered access to North Gaza in order to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the conflict.

The charity’s statement also drew attention to the broader implications of Israel’s actions, which it argues are contributing to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. International calls for a halt to violence and the creation of humanitarian corridors to facilitate aid have continued to grow, yet as of now, the situation remains dire, with Oxfam’s ability to deliver aid to those in need severely limited by the current restrictions.
