Hong Kong Court

Published on: 2 December, 2020

Hong Kong pro-democracy activists Joshua Wong, Ivan Lam and Agnes Chow will be sentenced for an unauthorized assembly near police headquarters during last year’s anti-government protests.

After the activists were jailed on November 23, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said he was considering whether to withdraw the mechanism allowing British judges to sit on Hong Kong’s highest court in response to what he called China’s attempts to erode the city’s promised autonomy and freedoms.

Beijing then urged Britain to curb its colonial mindset, hypocrisy and double standards.
