The Prime Minister of Qatar has called for Israel to be pressured into returning to negotiations, while Qatar warned that Israel’s escalating policies could lead to further instability in the region. Jordan has also raised concerns, warning that tensions in the region could erupt if Israeli aggression against Gaza continues. Meanwhile, both the Egyptian President and the Emir of Kuwait have issued warnings about the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Saudi Arabia has called for the protection of Palestinians from what it describes as Israel’s “oppressive” war machine, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has demanded an immediate halt to Israeli aggression on Gaza. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has expressed horror over the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
In other news, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli strikes on Gaza, and the far-right party of lawmaker Itamar Ben-Gvir has returned to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government. In Hungary, the Parliament has passed a law banning “Pride March” events, while a new round of talks on Cyprus is taking place in Geneva, although with low expectations of progress.
