At least 80 people were killed across Gaza on Wednesday, with children among the victims. The Israeli military targeted a densely populated area in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of at least 39 Palestinians and leaving many others injured. Israeli drones struck two locations just 100 metres apart, one of which was a restaurant where people were eating. The aftermath saw bodies scattered across the street.
Tragedy struck once again when a journalist was killed in a strike on Al-Karama School in the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City. The school was targeted twice on Wednesday, claiming the lives of at least 16 people. Another journalist, Yahya Sobeih, was killed in a separate strike on Al-Wahda Street, Gaza City. According to the Gaza Government Media Office, the death toll of journalists since the beginning of the war has now risen to 214.
The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate as no aid has entered Gaza since 2 March. The blockade has exacerbated the risk of widespread malnutrition, disease, and other preventable conditions. Gaza’s hospitals are also facing an existential crisis. The spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Hospital warned that the ongoing fuel ban threatens to force hospitals into closure. Meanwhile, the region is grappling with a severe shortage of medicines, with 43% of essential drugs now out of stock.
