A Hamas official on Wednesday said they are still preparing their response to the latest ceasefire proposal but insisted that the groups weapons are not subject to negotiation. The group on Monday had confirmed that it was studying the proposal received from mediators in Egypt and would respond “as soon as possible”.

The U.S. President’s Special Envoy for hostage affairs Adam Boehler has told Al Jazeera that a ceasefire deal in Gaza will only be possible when all captives are released.
