Latest following the arrest of 53 pro-democracy activists and politicians Wednesday in Hong Kong’s biggest crackdown since the introduction of controversial national security law.

Some reports suggest Hong Kong police have also visited the offices of media outlets with a search warrant asking for the contact information of primary election candidates.

An American lawyer John Clancey is one of those arrested. Incoming US secretary of state Antony Blinken tweeted Wednesday that the Biden-Harris administration stands with the people of Hong Kong.
