Hamas has informed Qatari and Egyptian mediators of its acceptance of a ceasefire proposal, according to a Hamas source on Monday.
The plan envisages a 60-day halt in hostilities during which Israel would reposition its forces to facilitate aid deliveries.
Crucially, the proposal includes a prisoner exchange: Palestinian detainees for half of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
This arrangement is presented as a step toward a broader, comprehensive peace deal.
The announcement follows a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Egypt’s President, underscoring regional efforts to broker peace.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted Qatar’s role in intensifying pressure on both sides to expedite a resolution.
