Drinking water has become a scarce resource for more than half a million people in Gaza after Israel cut off power to a vital desalination plant over a week ago. This critical facility, which provides much-needed clean water, has been left inoperable, exacerbating the already dire conditions faced by the 2.3 million residents of the enclave.

As of Sunday, March 16th, this marks the 14th day since Israel’s decision to halt the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Most Palestinians in the region rely on food assistance, and the suspension of these supplies has left the population in a desperate situation. In addition to the severe shortage of food, there is an urgent need for fuel, shelter, and medicine, with basic goods nearly impossible to obtain. The ongoing blockade has created a humanitarian disaster that continues to worsen by the day.

Reports from early Saturday morning indicated that Israeli military gunboats stationed off the southern coast of Gaza opened fire toward the Rafah area. While no casualties have been reported thus far, the ongoing violence only adds to the already unstable and dangerous environment in the region.

On Friday, March 14th, a deadly Israeli airstrike targeted four Palestinians who were collecting firewood in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood, located south of Gaza City. The attack resulted in the deaths of the four individuals, underscoring the risks faced by civilians as they go about their daily lives in a conflict zone.

The situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating, with the international community calling for urgent action to address the humanitarian crisis and the escalating violence. The needs of the people are growing more desperate by the hour, as both the blockade and military actions continue to limit access to essential resources and aid.
