At least 54 Palestinians were killed across the Gaza Strip on Saturday as Israeli airstrikes continued to intensify, striking several areas including displacement zones and residential neighbourhoods.
Among the latest casualties, Israeli warplanes targeted a displacement tent in the Al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza, resulting in the death of at least one Palestinian and injuring two others. The area, designated as a “safe zone” for displaced civilians, had already been attacked less than 24 hours earlier, raising further concerns about the safety of those seeking refuge there.
The strikes came as part of a broader wave of overnight bombardments that included multiple raids on Khan Younis, a city that has seen repeated attacks throughout the conflict. Three separate airstrikes in the city on Saturday claimed the lives of at least 11 Palestinians. Many of the victims included women and children. Several severely injured babies and young children were rushed to the Nasser Medical Complex, where doctors continue to struggle with dwindling supplies and limited capacity.
These incidents follow a deadly series of Israeli attacks on Friday that killed at least 64 Palestinians in various parts of Gaza, pushing the total death toll from the weekend alone to well over 100.
The renewed violence has drawn condemnation from humanitarian organisations, who warn that repeated strikes on areas housing displaced civilians could constitute serious violations of international law. The situation on the ground remains dire, with medical facilities overwhelmed, infrastructure decimated, and hundreds of thousands of people displaced with nowhere safe to turn.
