Argentina’s environmental protection legislation.

Published on: 21 January, 2024

As part of the Milei government’s bid to open up the country to unbarred economy investment, the president is insisting on lifting restrictions on mining, forestry and oil exploration.

This means removing laws that protect glaciers, national parks, forests and wetlands, considering pillars of Argentina’s environmental protection legislation.

They have been in place for decades, but Milei- who says that climate change is a lie of socialism – wants to eliminate all restrictions. Mega-landowners and Millei allies like Eduardo Elsztein and former president Mauricio Macri stand to make millions.
