Sporadic clashes broke out late Sunday in El Fasher between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese army.

The UN has been warning that the warring parties appear headed toward major clashes in the city which is home to 2M people and about 500,000 internally displaced.

El Fasher is the last major city in the vast, western Darfur region not under control of the RSF.

“UN Security Council members on Saturday called on “he is warring parties in Sudan to immediately halt the military build-up and take steps to de-escalate the situation in El Fasher, the provincial capital of North Darfur”, said a United Nations’s statement.
