India’s home minister Amit Shah visited violence-hit areas in northeast Manipur state on Tuesday.
Last week Shah appealed for peace and dialogue to resolve issues between tribal communities and blamed a recent High Court order giving reservations to the ethnic majority Meitei community, for the recent violence.
A surge in violent attacks took place on Sunday in some parts of the state which has seen weeks of violence between tribal groups and the Meitei people.
Dozens have been killed in the violence and over 35000 people arrested.
Schools and colleges are shut, internet services are banned in some areas of the state and curfew continues in many areas with no relaxation.
Indian army soldiers have been deployed by the government.
