Six schools in Occupied East Jerusalem may be closed down

Published on: 30 August, 2022

For Palestinian children attending six schools in Occupied East Jerusalem, it may be the last year the doors are open.

That’s because the Israeli Education Minister revoked the permanent operating licenses of the schools.

He alleges the social studies, history and Arabic textbooks provided by the Palestinian Authority spew hate and incitement, glorify the Palestinian resistance to Israeli Occupation and blame Israel for the water crisis in the Occupied Territories.

The schools have been given a one-year conditional license to operate.

If they don’t remove the textbooks deemed offensive and replace them with Israeli textbooks, the schools will be forced to close.
