Thousands of people in Sudan’s River Nile state have been left homeless as a result of flash floods and rains.

According to  Sudan National Council for Civil Defence, 52 people died and  25 were injured.

“238 health facilities were affected, 1,560 water sources and over 1,500 latrines were damaged or washed away,” OCHA said on Sunday.

Many people say they don’t have access to food, clean water or electricity.

After more than three days, the government and aid organizations have yet to provide any assistance.

According to the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) forecast for 9-16 August, extremely heavy (top 1 percent) rainfall is expected over isolated parts of central Sudan, and heavy to very heavy (top 5-10 percent) rainfall is expected over parts of central Sudan.
