Hundreds of security forces are fanning out across the streets of Foggia, a small city in southern Italy’s Puglia region.
They’re hunting for mafia enforcers who have set off a string of bombs in recent days – nine bombs in nine days so far.
The blasts have blown through small businesses – a perfume shop, restaurant, and funeral home just to name a few.
It’s payback from the local mob after some businesses refused to pay extortion fees.
There have been no deaths yet, but the attacks could increase in number and severity according to officials.
Aljazeera travels to Foggia to embed with anti-mafia security forces to see what they’re facing and how they are trying to fight back against the most recent spate of attacks.
