During the Anti-Extradition Bill Movement in 2019, around 4,000 students are among over 10-thousand anti-government protestors were arrested for their alleged involvement with the movement.

Many young protestors have been released from jail since having difficulties in finding jobs or continuing their studies because of pending trials or criminal records.
