A migrant caravan being organized in Southern Mexico is scheduled to start moving north toward the United States on Wednesday.

The creation of this new caravan appears to be in direct response to confrontations between migrants and Mexican security forces which have escalated in recent weeks.

Despite more resources being employed to curb migration in the country, migrant groups have continued to push forward.

The number of children seeking to cross Mexico to get to the United States has also risen dramatically since the start of this year as many families try to flee poverty, violence, and natural disasters.

As Mexico is poised to set a new record for people seeking asylum in the country, many expert observers see the immigration situation as a powder keg ready to blow.
