The violence in Palestine has shifted from East Jerusalem to the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday 27 Palestinians living in Gaza were killed by Israeli air raids, including nine children.

According to local media reports, Israeli drone raids killed a man in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis. The health ministry has reported that a woman was killed when a missile struck the upper floors of an apartment building in al-Shati refugee camp.

Most of the children killed by the explosion belonged to the same extended family. Two siblings, 11-year-old Ibrahim and seven-year-old Marwan, were the only children of Yousef al-Masri. At the time of the killing the children were playing outside their homes before the Ramadan iftar meal in Beit Hanoun.

At least 106 other Gazans were wounded.

On the Israeli side two people were killed by rocket fire in Ashkelon.

Israel says it has retaliated from a number of rockets into Israel.

The violence comes at a time when tensions in Jerusalem have been driven by the planned forced expulsions of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, and by Israeli forces raids on Al-Aqsa compound.

On Tuesday Israel called up 5000 reservists amid continued rocket fire from Hamas.
