The UN Human Rights Committee session on the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights holds public meetings to consider a report on Palestine today, Wednesday & tomorrow Thursday (this regular session was scheduled before the current raids on Jenin).
The ICCPR is a treaty that protects and preserves basic human rights, such as the right to life and human dignity; equality before the law; freedom of speech, assembly, and association; religious freedom and privacy; freedom from torture, ill-treatment, and arbitrary detention; gender equality; the right to a fair trial; right to family life and family unity; and minority rights.
The Committee will hold a press conference to present its findings.
