Tunisian security forces have moved 150 Black African migrants and asylum seekers, including children and pregnant women to the same exact remote, militarized buffer zone at the Tunisia-Libya border, Al Jazeera has been told.
On Monday, Tunisia claimed they took back 700 migrants trapped in the border zone.
A local rights group, Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, told Reuters says many of the migrants have been taken to shelters in two towns — Medenine (south-east Tunisia) and Tataouine (southern Tunisia.)
The government moved the migrants to the site at the Libyan border JUL 2 following an outbreak of violence in the coastal city of Sfax.
