The UN Security Council is holding a briefing and consultations on the political and humanitarian situation in Syria.

UNSC is likely to discuss the July 10th  expired cross-border aid mechanism.

This briefing comes after Syria in its national capacity gave the UN permission to use the Bab al-Hawa crossing, in a letter to the UNSC, on 13 July.

In a note to UNSC, OCHA took issue with “two unacceptable conditions” in the letter sent by Syria.

The UN has not resumed the use of Bab al-Hawa.
