Israeli military operations intensified this week across multiple areas of the Gaza Strip, including Khan Younis, Gaza City, Zaytoun, Deir al Balah, Jabalia and the Nuseirat refugee camp. Strikes on Tuesday and Wednesday left more than 50 Palestinians dead, according to local reports. Among them were seven people reportedly killed while waiting for humanitarian aid.

In Khan Younis, an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the camp area killed two girls and injured several others. The attack took place near the Nasser Hospital, one of the few remaining partially functioning medical facilities in southern Gaza, now strained well beyond capacity.

The human toll remains staggering. On Tuesday UNICEF reported that, on average, 540 children have been killed each month over the past five months since the resumption of full-scale hostilities. That figure underscores the extraordinary burden borne by the youngest and most vulnerable amid the ongoing conflict.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian access, the fighting shows little sign of abating. Israel maintains that its operations are aimed at dismantling Hamas’s military infrastructure, but the rising civilian death toll continues to draw condemnation and deepen Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe.
